(LOS ANGELES) — After Sunday night’s Screen Actors Guild award win — which happened after he recently picked up a best supporting actor Golden Globe for the role — Three Billboards Outside Ebbings, Missouri star Sam Rockwell is on track for Oscar gold. But he’s already got the best acclaim a guy can get: from his dad.
The New York Times ran an essay about the award-winning movie on Thursday. While the piece itself is pointedly negative, many of the essay’s public comments about the movie were positive, including one in particular. It read: “I loved this movie, and intend to see it again. My son, Sam, won a Golden Globe for playing Jason Dixon. I think I would still love the movie if another actor had played Dixon..But not quite as much.” It was signed “Pete Rockwell.”
It’s not the first time the elder Rockwell took the time to give his son a shout-out, one Redditor and former movie critic pointed out, noting Pete Rockwell took the time to thank him when he praised Sam’s performance in 1999’s classic sci-fi comedy, Galaxy Quest.
