Leaders of 23 Club baseball should soon have what they have wanted for the past six months, official support from the city of Scottsbluff for their planned $1.4 million project to upgrade the Scottsbluff youth baseball complex.

The city council last Monday told staff to provide a letter at the July 17th meeting so the council can officially sign off on providing in-kind services on the project.

Geoff Nemnich is one of the 23 Club Board members and he is excited the city has finally jumped on board, agreeing to be the general contractor and providing workers for landscaping, irrigation, concrete and dirt work, and demolition.

Nemnich says with the city support the fundraising group can finalize plans with Baker and Associates and then feel comfortable about moving into the private sector for donations.

The plan includes building a new crow’s nest at the middle of the facility that will have ADA bathrooms, a new concessions area, updated HVAC and plumbing and storage. Phase two includes picnic tables, shaded areas., additional landscaping, a paved parking lot and new batting cages.
