A 26-year-old Gering woman only two weeks into a 90 day jail sentence being served on house arrest is being held on a half million dollar bond after cutting her custody bracelet.

Carrie Franks is charged with escape, a Class III Felony, and a misdemeanor criminal mischief count for damaging government property.

Franks was convicted of distribution of an imitation controlled substance when she sold what appeared to be methamphetamine to a confidential informant of the WING Drug Task Force. But the Nebraska State Crime Lab reported their test of the sample was negative for the drug.

Franks has been a frequent face in court the last year and a half, having faced nine separate criminal charges since 2016.
