Airport Appreciation Day part of 2018 SVR festivities

The annual Airport Appreciation Day and Fly-In event was held Saturday at Western Nebraska Regional Airport as part of the annual Sugar Valley Rally festivities.

Present was a Hue helicopter and a CC-130 transport plane from the Wyoming National Guard Base Air Force Base in Cheyenne. Wyoming Air National Guard members provided information to young children and families as they made their way inside and outside the aircraft.

The Experimental Aircraft Association pilots provided free Young Eagles flights for kids. Launched in 1992, the EAA Young Eagles program gives interested young people ages 8-17 an opportunity fly in a general aviation airplane. These flights are free of charge and are made possible through the generosity of EAA volunteer pilots.

The annual Kiwanis breakfast kicked things off when the gates opened at 7 a.m. The United Way of Western Nebraska was also out at the airport selling ducks for their July 21st Duck Dash. Alongside the volunteers was the grand prize for the Duck Dash, a 2018 Toyota C-HR.
