Residents across the panhandle are being asked to be vigilant after the Alliance Police Department released they are investigating several “brazen” burglaries and thefts.
Lt. Edward Tjaden says on Monday night and into the early hours of Tuesday morning, multiple of these crimes were reported- including one instance where a home was broken into while the residents were sleeping upstairs.
In total, eight cases have been reported. Items stolen include three vehicles and motorcycles valued at an estimated $14,000.
Tjaden says the Alliance Police Department has received information that other cities have experienced similar incidents, and a common suspect is being sought at this time. Some of the stolen property has been recovered in Pine Ridge, South Dakota.
“The Alliance Police Department is reaching out to those agencies to share and gather information, and asks that any citizens with information contact the PD,” said Tjaden. He adds they encourage citizens to remain vigilant in securing their vehicles and homes, not leaving valuables in their vehicles, and reporting suspicious vehicles and persons.
