Bancroft-Rosalie School will hold their Veterans Day Program on Monday at 2:45 in the Main Gym. Principal Mike Sjuts says the program includes student speakers and a band performance. “We’re going to start things out with a welcome and a playing of our Star Spangled Banner. We’re very fortunate that the Bancroft-Rosalie band they always sound awesome for this. And the music that they play really gets people in the mood for this. We try to do a good job to recognize our veterans. We also have a couple of our seniors…Kariden Briggs, Zoe Sjuts….that are speaking. They’re doing a few short pieces. One is on the history of the Star Spangled Banner. Another one is reading a poem Freedom Is Not Free. Then we are also giving the history on the story of the Origin of Taps.”

Sjuts says the program will also feature Guest Speaker Retired Colonel Curtis Abendroth, a 1986 Bancroft-Rosalie Graduate.

Sjuts hopes students get something out of it. “We’re talking about the history of the Star Spangled Banner. We’re hoping kids are paying attention to listen to any little detail that they can learn more about this great country, and to all the people that have served and honored this country with their sacrifices and their lives at times.”

Sjuts says everyone is welcome to attend the program.
