(Audio) Globetrotter Watches Meiergerd Make Backwards Half-Court Shot
West Point Beemer senior James Meiergerd makes backward half-court in front of student body and Globetrotter.

A member of the Harlem Globetrotters, Orlando “El Gato” Melendez was at West Point High School Monday to watch senior James Meiergerd make a backwards half-court shot during a special program in front of the student body.

Meiergerd, who has Down syndrome, had drained the shot during halftime of a game January 5th.  A video of the shot went viral on the Internet

“ABC World News Tonight with David Muir” ended up doing a segment on Meiergerd’s story.

Meiergerd will be an honorary Globetrotter when the group performs at the Century Link Center in Omaha on April 4th.
