The Scribner Swimming Pool opened for the summer on Tuesday. Manager Maci Hunke describes the dimensions of the pool. “The shallow end is about 2 foot 9 inches. And the pool gradually works down to about I think it’s 5 foot 6 inches. And then we have it roped off is the 12 foot. So a lot of the kids like to swim to the bottom of the 12 foot. They think that’s really cool to throw rings down there.”

Hunke says the pool also has a high dive.

Hours are from 1:00-7:00 p.m. each day, and Hunke says a late night swim will be held sometime in August.

Breaks are taken every 45 minutes.

The pool is expected to be open until the second week of August.

The pool is offering swimming lessons this summer. Hunke says people have the option of receiving more personalized lessons. “We offer private lessons basically at any time when our public swim isn’t open. So that entails a week of one-on-one, one guard with one swimmer. So that is a good time for the students to learn a lot about swimming because then they wouldn’t have to be with a group of kids.”

Hunke says public swimming lessons will be held in two different sessions beginning the second Monday of June.

The sessions will be held at 11:00 a.m. and noon in June and July. Hunke says high numbers is the reason for the two different sessions.

She adds Water Aerobics Classes are being held this summer as well.

To sign up for or get more information about the lessons or classes, stop at the pool or call them at 402-664-3417.
