NPPD: Arrestor failure caused Tuesday afternoon power outage.

NPPD crews restored power around 3 pm. this afternoon to a portion of  northeast Scottsbluff after a transformer blew early Tuesday afternoon.

The power outage impacted area businesses around the airport including Vertex, which was on generator power. The North Platte N.R.D.  announced they were closing for the remainder of the day.

NPPD’s Mark Becker says an arrestor failure caused the transformer issues
