Car driver dies after collision in southwest Nebraska

UPDATE:

The Red Willow County Sheriff’s Office has identified the second driver involved in the two-vehicle fatality accident Monday morning around 3.5 miles south of Indianola. 52-year-old Juan Carlos Cervantes Cerna of rural Indianola was treated and released from the scene. The driver of the other vehicle, 19-year-old Jonathan Coburn of McCook died in the accident. The Nebraska State Patrol is assisting in the continuing investigation.

 

 

INDIANOLA, Neb. (AP) _ Authorities say a car driver died after a collision in southwestern Nebraska.

The McCook Gazette reports that the accident occurred around 8 a.m. Monday on a Red Willow County road about 4 miles south of Indianola. The Red Willow County attorney, Paul Wood, says 19-year-old Johnathan Coburn was driving south in his car when it collided with a northbound pickup truck. Coburn was killed, and Wood says the pickup driver was treated at the scene. His name hasn’t been released yet.

Coburn lived in McCook. The collision is being investigated.
