Celtic festival to provide music, humor and more this weekend

Residents are encouraged to take part this weekend in the First annual Celtic Festival, scheduled at the 18th Street Plaza.

The Festival kicks off with whiskey tasting at the Hampton Inn from 6:30 to 8:30 Friday evening. the cost is $30 and pre-registration is required on the website. The classic movie Brigadoon will be shown at 8:30 Friday evening at 16th Empire on Avenue A.

Organizer Andrew Hunzeker says Saturday and Sunday is filled with great Irish and Scottish music and humor and a chance to trace your family history. Those performing on stage include the Cheyenne Pipe and Drum Band, humorists Gobs o Phun, Celtic classic rock and rollers The Commoners,  and Ren Scotts,

Many of the volunteers will be dressed in kilts representing their family, community or region.

There will also be face painting, coloring, and other games for the kids.
