Cheyenne County Attorney says Lodgepole deaths ruled as murder-suicide

Cheyenne County Attorney says Lodgepole deaths ruled as murder-suicide

The Cheyenne County Attorney’s Office has released more information regarding an April 19th shooting death.

County Coroner Paul Schaub says the Deputies were dispatched during the noon hour Thursday to a report of elder abuse, which led them to a Lodgepole residence at 819 Bondegaard Street. Schaub says deputies knocked on the door, announced their presence and a female voice responded, “Just a minute.”

The deputies then heard a gunshot. They entered the residence and located the deceased, identified as 51 year-old Michelle Lee Marlatt-Arledge and 52 year-old Mark Arledge. Each were in separate rooms and both had gunshot wounds. The bodies were transported to Scottsbluff for autopsies.

On Tuesday, Schaub said preliminary autopsy findings show that the cause of death of Mark Arledge is multiple gunshot wounds, and is ruled as a homicide with the estimated date of death of Monday April 16th.

Schaub says Michelle Arledge died  as a result of a gunshot wound to the head, and it appears to be a suicide that occurred on Thursday, April 19th.

Schaub says the investigative efforts support a finding that Michelle L. Arledge caused the death Mark M. Arledge.
