OMAHA, Neb. (AP) _ An Omaha couple who have planned several honor flights to Washington, D.C., for veterans have planned another. This one’s just for women.

Bill and Evonne Williams say the Nebraska Female Veterans Flight is for women who served in the European or Pacific theaters during World War II, in Korea, Vietnam, the Persian Gulf War or in Afghanistan or Iraq. The tentative date is Sept. 24.

Plans call for a charter aircraft with an all-female crew to fly 135 veterans, volunteer assistants, and media members _ all women _ to see the memorials in the nation’s capital.

Evonne Williams is president of the couple’s Patriotic Productions and she says female veterans deserve recognition and appreciation for their roles, whether on the battlefield or far behind the lines.
