Courses for real estate professionals coming to Northeast in West Point

WEST POINT – Northeast Community College in West Point will offer a series of courses designed for real estate professionals at its extended campus location on May 29 and 30.

Real Estate: Fair Housing (0282R) (REAL 5315/19S & CRN# 70112) will be held Wednesday, May 29, from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. in Room 222 of the West Point extended campus, 202 Anna Stalp Avenue.

This intermediate-level course offers an in-depth study of HUD’s Fair Housing Policies and is designed to help agents comply with the law and avoid legal pitfalls as they relate to advertising, representation, financing and issues related to various segments of the population.

Real Estate: Understanding Foreclosures and Short Sales (0622) (REAL 5200/19S & CRN# 70113) meets that same afternoon from 1-4 p.m. in the same location.

This basic-level class is ideal for gaining the knowledge and procedures to handle both the foreclosure and short sale transactions. Participants will learn terms and transactional differences so they can better represent both buyers and sellers involved in a foreclosure or short sale.

Real Estate: Risky Business Practices (0305R) (REAL 5205/19S & CRN #70114) meets that evening from 6-9 p.m. in the same location.

This basic-level course is a compilation of legal issues, disciplinary actions and risk potential, all packaged into an awareness-building format so brokers, managers and agents can better identify and avoid business practices that could lead to license suspension/revocation, legal action, fines and jail time.

Real Estate: Keep Your Advertising Legal (0653) (REAL 5235/19S & CRN# 70115) meets Thursday, May 30, from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. in the same location.

From print media to web, from Fair Housing to Regulation Z, and from Nebraska Real Estate Commission required disclosures to general real estate advertising, this basic-level course is an in-depth look at advertising diction and a guide to avoiding fines and protecting real estate.

Real Estate: Contract Language for the Real World (0729R) (REAL 5150/19S & CRN #70116) meets from 1-3 p.m. that afternoon in the same location.

This basic-level course discusses 30 of the most “unclear, misrepresentative and high risk” examples of poorly written terms and phrases in real estate contracts. Participants will learn the correct way to create and author definitive contract language for better representation in real estate agreements.

Cost of each class, to be taught via ITV by Mark Wehner, is $45.

Pre-registration is required. To register for any of the classes, call Northeast Community College in West Point at (402) 372-2269.
