Cuming County Files Disaster Declaration

Cuming County Files Disaster Declaration

Cuming County Emergency Management Director Bernie Hunke says the county board of supervisors signed a disaster declaration at their last monthly meeting which was submitted to NEMA, following the heavy rains in June.

Hunke tells the KTIC Newsroom a couple of bridges, a few culverts and some roads are in need of repair. There was also the loss of gravel on some county roads. The total estimate of damage to the infrastructure is $180,000

Hunke says from what he’s heard, they’re unlikely to reach the financial threshold the state requires to declare an emergency. But just in case, it’s on file.

At last check, Dodge, Washington and Burt counties did not file a disaster declaration.
