A 35-year-old man is facing a number of charges following an incident that occurred Sunday in Scottsbluff.

Court documents indicate police were dispatched to an apartment in the 3800 block of Avenue D just before 1 p.m. Sunday after a woman reported Joe Gonzales knocking on the door and not being wanted there.

As police arrived, the documents indicate Gonzales fled from officers on foot, running around the building and back inside before he was finally apprehended while attempting to kick the reporting party’s door open.

A search of Gonzales produced a container with THC wax and a Walmart bag with several stolen credit cards and a victim’s driver’s license. Officers also located a partially lit marijuana “joint” on the floor in front of Gonzales, which he reportedly admitted was his.

Gonzales was arrested and charged with Obstructing a Police Officer, Burglary, Possession of Stolen Property, Possession of Marijuana, and Criminal Mischief.

He was taken to the Scotts Bluff County Detention Center, where he was awaiting a first appearance Monday in Scotts Bluff County Court.
