Drying Conditions Lead To Panhandle Wildfire Risk

Drying Conditions Lead To Panhandle Wildfire Risk

Despite last month’s winter storm and localized flooding that followed, some parts of the Panhandle are dry enough that wildfire has become a risk.

The latest example is the Cutacross Fire, which burned a thousand acres of central Sioux County about midway between Harrison and Mitchell.

The Great Plains Fire Information Center says the fire was reported at 3:12 Friday afternoon and was contained 2-1/2 hours later.
