Emporium restaurant closing, coffee kiosks to stay open

One of Scottsbluff’s gourmet restaurants and a dining destination for many travelers,The Emporium in downtown Scottsbluff, is closing later this month. Ron Schluter, who has owned the restaurant with his wife Sara for 17 years, confirms to KNEB News the last day the restaurant will be open is Saturday November 24th.

Schluter says they have been doing very well at their two coffee kiosks, which will remain open, but over the last two years the crowd at the restaurant has declined. He says they seem to get enough travelers stopping in, partly because they serve a different menu than other local restaurants. But he says they are apparently not serving foods enough local residents want.

Schluter says over the last few months they have been taking profits from the coffee kiosks to keep the restaurant open and they finally decided they could not afford to keep the restaurant open. Schluter says they have no regrets, have great memories, and they will now concentrate on their coffee kiosks.

Schluter emphasized it is a turn-key operation with updated equipment and anyone interested in the business or the building is welcome to get in contact with them at the restaurant.
