Gering council to consider moving property purchase bid to committee for review

Gering council to consider moving property purchase bid to committee for review

The Gering council this evening will consider a request by councilman Ben Backus to submit the offer by Croell Incorporated to purchase city property to the council’s Administrative and Economic Development Committee.

Croell has offered to purchase property designated for a joint industrial park so they can locate a concrete plant and regional offices at the site. The council has received criticism from local businesses and the public for not accepting the bid but city staff indicated they have others interested in the property as well and by state law need to take sealed bids for the property.

Also on the agenda this evening is a recommendation to award the bid for the second phase of the Oregon trail baseball field project to Anderson-Shaw Construction. Parks Director Ron Ernst says Anderson Shaw has the low bid of $354,000 for the dugouts, wall, and flatwork for the baseball field project.
