Gering council to consider zone change, plats for Vetter development properties

Gering council to consider zone change, plats for Vetter development properties

The Gering city council this evening will consider a zoning change on one property Vetter Health Services has purchased in Gering and a preliminary plat on the other.

Vetter Health last year purchased 29 of the 35 acres at the southeast corner of Five Rocks Road and M Street in Gering from Community Christian School. Since then Vetter  also purchased more than eighteen acres west of their current Heritage Estates facility from the Wiedeman family.

Vetter had initially planned to expand Heritage Estates independent cottages on the 29 acres near Five Rocks Road, but according to City Planner Annie Folck they are now changing that plan.

Folck said “It is my understanding is that they are planning to put some cottages on the property west of Heritage Estates. They have  not told us what they are planning to do at the Five Rocks property. At this time the main thing they are trying to do with approval of a preliminary plat is split off the six acres where a Community Christian school will be located. ”

Folck says on the 18 acres west of the current facility Vetter wants approval of a zoning change from agriculture to multi-family residential plus approval of  preliminary and final plats  to accommodate the additional independent cottages .
