Gov. Ricketts’ Independence Day Statement

Gov. Ricketts’ Independence Day Statement

Lincoln, Neb. — Governor Pete Ricketts issued the following statement in observance of Independence Day:

“Every year, Americans gather on Independence Day to celebrate the freedoms we cherish. Families and friends will celebrate with barbecues, parades, fireworks, and more on this uniquely American holiday. As we celebrate, let’s also remember the sacrifices that our brave servicemen and women have made to ensure our freedoms, rights, and liberties. As President Ronald Reagan said, ‘We will always remember. We will always be proud. We will always be prepared, so we will always be free.’

“Susanne, the kids, and I wish everyone a fun and safe Independence Day with their family and loved ones. Remember to travel safely throughout this busy week of travel. Please buckle up, be safe, and don’t drink and drive.”

On Independence Day, Governor Ricketts will participate in Fourth of July parades in Omaha, Ralston, Seward, and Central City. Details here:
