Hazardous driving conditions continue across most of the state

UPDATE: 11:21am  I-80 westbound REOPENED at mile marker 426 near Omaha.

 

Nebraska State Patrol reporting hazardous driving conditions with I-80 westbound CLOSED at mile marker 426 near Omaha due to multiple crashes.

The National Weather Service says the strong winter storm will continue to bring widespread snow to eastern Nebraska today with up to 8 to 10 inches of snow in southeast Nebraska. Lesser amounts as you head into northeast Nebraska and west central Iowa. The snow combined with north winds gusting to 40 mph could create whiteout conditions in open areas which had led to a Blizzard Warning in effect for eastern Nebraska today until 6:00pm.

Winter weather advisories are in effect for much of central and west-central Nebraska until noon today with snow and blowing snow. Additional snow accumulations of up to one inch. Winds gusting as high as 40 mph.

Call Nebraska 511 for the latest road information.    The Nebraska State Patrol office in North Platte reported troopers handling vehicles sliding off the roadways on Sunday morning.
