Lied Scottsbluff Public Library advances to round 3 of national competition

The Lied Scottsbluff Public Library continues its quest to become the best public library in the nation.

The contest is being put on by a non-profit called ‘Engaging Local Government Leaders.’ The winner will receive the Leslie B. Knope award- based on Amy Poehler’s character on the TV show Parks and Recreation.

116 libraries from across the country were whittled down to 32 following the first round of voting. Last week, the Scottsbluff library squared off against the Cleveland Heights Library in University Heights, OH. Scottsbluff garnered a whopping 91% of the votes in that round, and now advances to the #ELGLKNOPE ‘Sweetums16’ round of voting.

This week, the Lied Scottsbluff Library is squared off against the Lawrence, Kansas Public Library. The Lawrence Library comes in as a #6 seed, to Scottsbluff’s #3 seed and edged Provo, Utah with 71% of its round 2 votes.

It’s once again time for the public to log in and vote for the Lied Scottsbluff Public Library to help them advance to the next round- voting runs through Friday.
