Man arrested at York McDonald’s

YORK – An Omaha man is in custody after causing a scare at the York McDonald’s over the weekend.

According to the York Police Department, the incident began Saturday shortly after 2 p.m. when 29-year-old Michael Coleman was involved in an accident on the Interstate 80 westbound off-ramp. Coleman failed to cooperate with law enforcement at the accident scene and proceeded to leave on foot. He then ran to Connoco gas station just north of McDonald’s where he tried to break into a vehicle. After not having success, Coleman walked across the street to McDonald’s where he allegedly had contact with seven different victims.

Coleman allegedly made several attempts to commandeer numerous occupied vehicles and assaulted several people, including grabbing an elderly woman who later had to be transported to York General after being emotionally distraught. Authorities say no one else was injured in the other assaults.

Coleman was eventually arrested by the York Police Department and was charged with two counts of robbery, criminal mischief, four counts of third degree assault and third degree assault on an officer resisting arrest. No weapons were found. The incident is still under investigation.

The police department is encouraging anyone who has any information on the incident to report it to authorities.
