Mitchell residents to vote on continuing L.B. 840 program

Mitchell voters today will vote on continuing their LB 840 plan and increasing the city restricted funding authority when they go to the polls today.

Mitchell City Administrator Jeff Sprock says, “In order to have an L.B. 840 program you have to have approved funding and  an approved plan. So one of the ballot measures is to approve continued use of 10% of our 1% sales tax for L.B. 840 and  economic development and then to approve our amended plan.”

Sprock says the LB 840 committee has worked hard on the amended plan so workforce housing is included for possible funding. Sprock says it also  emphasizes applicants must have some business experience or acumen, or  complete required training to show they have the skills to run a successful business.

Sprock says the third item on the ballot increases the city’s restricted funding authority, effectively giving the city more control over state aid they receive.
