More stormy weather and cooler temps ahead

After an active night of thunderstorms across portions of the Nebraska panhandle Thursday evening, more storms are likely to develop again Friday.

However, KNEB Meteorologist Don Day says the scenario Friday looks to be a little bit different than what we saw Thursday.

Day says the bigger concern isn’t so much high wind gusts and possible tornadic activity like Thursday night, but heavy rain and hail will be a concern with any thunderstorms Friday.

Day also says the area of expected severe weather isn’t as large Friday as what we saw Thursday, with most activity confined to southeast Wyoming and the southern Nebraska panhandle.

And Day says Saturday will see cooler temperatures across the region, with a lid on the atmosphere in terms of being able to warm up very much.

Day says we’re replacing the very warm air we’ve had overhead this week with cooler air coming in from the Dakotas. With the low to our west stalling, he says it will give us a moisture rich environment that can lead to the development of more rain and thunderstorms early next week.
