Nebraska Episcopalians gather in Gering to celebrate 150 years

250 Episcopalians from all over Nebraska will celebrate 150 years as they gather this weekend in Gering for the Nebraska Diocese’s 151st Annual Council.

St. Francis Episcopal Church is the host church and Bishop Scott Barker says there is representation from every area of the state.

Bishop Scott Barker says, ” We have 53 churches in the Nebraska Diocese  with representatives from every church,  both clergy and lay.  They have come from all over the state to be here and it is a glorious family reunion for us. ”

The group will conduct official business at the Gering Civic Center throughout the weekend, with special events at Legacy of the Plains Museum. Dr. Tom Osborne was the keynote speaker at a closed event Friday.

In addition to worship and prayer events, the diocese will conduct official business relating to Committee Nominations, Budget, Proposals, Resolutions & Reports and make awards to a special clergy and lay person.
