The Nebraska State Historical Society is rebranding itself and offering new ways for history buffs to access its resources after 140 years.
The historical society changed its name to History Nebraska this week. The organization also launched a new website and mobile app to reach more audiences.
Director and CEO Trevor Jones says the organization conducted statewide research last year and found that few residents understood the full scope of the group’s offerings.
Jones says the new name and brand will showcase the organization’s role as a place to learn about the state’s past and draw lessons. He says the changes will give Nebraska residents access to historical resources at their fingertips.
History Nebraska collects, preserves and shares the state’s history. It also operates Nebraska’s history museum and manages historical sites and markers.
