Norris student dead after Sunday morning crash

LINCOLN, Neb. – A 17-year-old Norris High School student has been pronounced dead after a Sunday morning  two-vehicle crash.

On Sunday, at 9:32 a.m., The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office, Hickman Fire, Southeast Fire and Rescue along with the Nebraska State Patrol respond two vehicle crash occurring on Saltillo Road, just west of S. 68th Street. The investigation revealed the driver of an eastbound Chevrolet Malibu entered in westbound traffic lane and was struck in a nearly head-on fashion by a westbound Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck.

The driver and lone occupant of the Silverado, 60 year-old Gene Hagstrom, of Lincoln, was transported to Bryan West Campus with minor injuries.

The driver and lone occupant of the Malibu, 17-year-old Brianna Titterington, of Roca, was transported to Bryan West Campus with critical and possibly life-threatening injuries. On Monday at 1:35 p.m., Titterington was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office Crash Reconstruction Team was called to investigate the scene. A portion of Saltillo Road was closed for about four hours during the investigation.

The preliminary investigation indicates that seat belts were in use and alcohol and drugs are not believed to be a factor in this crash.
