Overton, Neb. — The Nebraska State Patrol (NSP) says one person died and a passenger was transported to a hospital Saturday morning following a single-vehicle rollover accident in Dawson County.

Authorities say the rollover occurred shortly before 7:22 a.m. in the westbound lanes, about one-mile east of the Overton Interstate-80 interchange.

The vehicle left the interstate, entered the north ditch, went through a fence and ended up on its top. Both the driver and passenger were ejected from the vehicle.

The driver, 18 year old Sarah Worden of North Platte was killed. The passenger, 18 year old Madison McKinzie of North Platte was transported to a hospital.

NSP investigators said seat belts were not in use at the time of the crash. The Dawson County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene.
