Police investigation at EWC concludes with no charges filed

No charges will be filed following an investigation at Eastern Wyoming College involving alleged underage drinking.

In a statement issued by Torrington Police regarding the investigation, Chief of Police, Timothy Hurd, said, “After concluding an extensive investigation into the allegations of underage drinking at Eastern Wyoming College Dormitories, no criminal charges will be filed at this time.

Hurd said “the cooperative efforts between the Torrington Police Department and the College Administration will continue to strive to protect the students attending the college as well as the citizens of Torrington.”

Two college employees were originally suspended with pay October 24th due to “serious allegations involving student services.”

One employee involved in the college’s internal investigation was released from leave in mid-November and allowed to return to work but was reassigned.

At the end of November, the college announced the resignation of a Vice President for Student Services.
