Prominent Nebraska Democrat, Anne Boyle, dies

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) _ A longtime Nebraska Public Service Commissioner who also led the state Democratic Party for several years has died at age 75.
The Omaha World-Herald reports that Anne Boyle died Saturday after suffering a stroke on Monday. She had been in hospice care since the stroke.

Boyle served on the Public Service Commission for nearly 20 years and was active in politics her entire life.

Boyle first volunteered on a political campaign when she was 11 and her husband, Mike Boyle is a Douglas County board member and former Omaha mayor.

Former U.S. Attorney Tom Monaghan described Anne Boyle as the “soul” of the Nebraska Democratic Party.
Republican U.S. Sen. Deb Fischer said Anne Boyle was a gracious person with a strong voice on telecommunication issues because of her work on the commission.
