Sasse says no August recess kept him from traveling to panhandle
U.S. Senator Ben Sasse interviewed by KNEB's Kevin Mooney on Nov. 5, 2018 (Strang/RRN/KNEB)

Senator Ben Sasse was part of the GOP team who appeared at the Western Nebraska Regional Airport today to promote the re-election of Congressmen Adrian Smith and Jeff Fortenberry , Governor Pete Ricketts and U.S. Senator Deb Fischer.

It is the first appearance Sasse has made at this end of the state since the middle of last year, basically a one and a half year absence.

Sasse told KNEB News he would have been here this past  summer as part of his annual town hall tour around the state but couldn’t make it because of the cancellation of the August recess.

Sasse told KNEB News, “I was successful at getting the majority leader to cancel the August recess.  A number of us, probably ten of the young Republicans, have been telling the majority leader we are not productive enough and we need to work harder.

Sasse said because of the young Republicans’ effort, Congress approved more needed federal judges. Sasse also says when he did come home he needed to spend time with his young family in Fremont.
