Scottsbluff Civil Service Commission interviews Fire Chief finalist Jeffrey Raffray, of Monroe, Louisiana

The four finalists for Scottsbluff Fire Chief are testing and interviewing  as the city starts to conclude the process to select a new permanent leader of their Fire Department.

Current Scottsbluff Fire Captains Justin Houstoun and Ryan Lohr- as well as Thomas Schingle of Cheyenne and Jeffrey Raffray of Monroe, Louisiana- will be testing for the Fire Chief Position.

Scores from the exam and the two interviews, conducted separately by the Civil Service Commission and a Management Team, will be tabulated this weekend and averaged for an overall score and rating. Human Resources Director Jana Bode says she plans to contact the candidates about the results early next week.

The city’s Civil Service Commission will then meet June 12th to certify a Fire Chief list. Once that is done City Manager Nate Johnson will make a decision on hiring one of the candidates.

Bode says the top name on the list will not automatically be selected, noting the appointment is subject to the successful completion of a physical examination, psychological test, pre-employment drug screening, and background check.
