The recount in the Scottsbluff City Council race was completed Friday afternoon at the Scotts Bluff County Administration building.

Following last week’s certification of the general election results by the county canvassing board, the recount confirmed that third place finisher Jeanne McKerrigan defeated incumbent council member Jordan Colwell by 18 votes. Both results finished with 1,610 and 1,592 votes received, respectively.

Those 18 votes amounted to one percent of the total votes cast for Nathan Green, who received the most tallies in the race with just over 1,800 ballots, causing the automatic recount.

McKerrigan, Green and Terry Schaub will go on to serve a four year term for the Scottsbluff City Council, and will be sworn-in Monday night. The Council will also elect a new mayor to succeed Randy Meininger, who did not seek re-election.
