The Scottsbluff music teacher accused of scamming her students and their parents out of thousands of dollars for a trip to Walt Disney World that was never booked has had her case bound over to District Court.
33-year-old Stacia Keener is charged with seven counts of Theft by Deception. She was in Scotts Bluff County Court Monday morning for her preliminary hearing on the latest charges- which include five Class IV Felonies and two Class IIA Felonies.
Keener waived her preliminary hearing this morning, so Judge Kris Mickey bound the case up to District Court, where she’ll be arraigned on the charges Friday.
Court documents say that Keener insisted families paid in full for the trip in advance, but instead cashed the checks for herself. Now, some families are out of thousands of dollars- including one family who paid $8,300 for the trip.
Keener is already set to stand trial in the August Jury term on charges related to stealing approximately $250,000 from her grandfather over a several year period.
