A Mitchell man’s use of a seat belt may have limited his injuries when he lost control of his vehicle west of Morrill Friday morning.

The Nebraska State Patrol says Roger Funk, 72, sustained what appeared to be minor injuries after rolling his pickup truck at about 9:45 a.m. near the Union Pacific overpass.  NSP officials say Funk was westbound on Highway 26 when the vehicle crossed the center line, drove through the south ditch, and rolled as it crossed the BNSF tracks, coming to rest on the south side of the tracks.

Seat belts were in use at the time of the accident. Funk was transported to Regional West Medical Center, where he’s reported in stable condition.

NSP investigators say they have yet to determine the cause of the accident.
