Lexington, Neb. — A pickup caught fire in south Lexington shortly before 5:30 a.m. on Friday.
The pickup driver was on his way to work at Tyson Fresh Meats and noticed the engine had lost oil pressure.
He parked it in the Plum Creek Market Place parking lot west of HIghway 238 and shortly thereafter, the engine compartment became engulfed in flames.
Lexington Volunteer Fire Department responded and put the fire out. An unknown amount of damage was done to the truck. No one was injured. The owner was able to retrieve a rifle from the truck’s cab. The rifle appeared to be undamaged.
