Two men killed in Sunday crash south of Torrington

A Sunday afternoon crash on Highway 85 in Goshen County has claimed the lives of two men, including a 67-year-old Torrington man.

Records show that 67-year-old Neil Newman was driving southbound on Highway 85 in his pickup. The Wyoming Highway Patrol says Newman swerved into the northbound lane and struck a Hyundai driven by 22-year-old Austin Walton, of Tennessee.

Walton was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash; Newman was transported to Community Hospital in Torrington, where he later died.

The Patrol says excessive speed and driver inattention are factors they are investigating as contributing factors to the crash.  Seat belts were in use by both drivers.
