U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree makes stop in Scottsbluff

Thousands of people lined the streets of downtown Scottsbluff Sunday evening for the annual Christmas Parade- which featured an extra special addition for 2018.

The U.S. Capitol Christmas tree is making its way to Washington D.C., but a select number of communities across the country are able to host special ceremonies as the tree passes through.

Following the hour long parade, the tree stopped in front of the Midwest Theater on Broadway. Scottsbluff Mayor Randy Meininger proclaimed it U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree Day for the cities of Scottsbluff, Gering and Terrytown.

Afterwards, Gering Mayor Tony Kaufman thanked the crowds for braving the cold for this momentous occasion.

Following the parade, the public was invited to the Midwest Theater for a free screening of Home Alone.
