Electric crews worked for several hours to restore service in the Village of Morrill Wednesday as power was lost to a majority of the community.

Village Board Chair Tony Schuler tells KNEB News two power poles at the intersection of Highway 26 and South Morrill Road were damaged at about 10:45 a.m., with one pulled out of the ground, and a second snapping in half.  “We ‘temporaried’ both poles and that was about it,” said Schuler, “The main thing was keeping traffic off Highway 26 because we didn’t know if it would go over on it. It was a simple fix really.”

Schuler tells us once the weather becomes more cooperative there will be a permanent replacement of the power poles. He says it was absolutely the wind that caused the problem. “It had to be a pretty good gust they way it snapped it, because it was next to one of our main support poles, and the poles were good fresh wood,”
