A number of schools and events in northeast Nebraska have been canceled due to a winter weather advisory that remains in effect until 6 p.m. this evening.

The National Weather Service is calling for an inch of snow with gusty northwest winds gusting as high as 45 miles per hour. That will reduce visibility and increase difficulty driving on slick roads.  Cold wind chills as low as 15 below zero will cause frostbite in as little as 30 minutes to exposed skin.
