WNCC moving forward on selecting contractor for $18 million project

The process to name a “Construction Manager at Risk” for WNCC’s $18 million main building addition and renovation project continued Wednesday when the college board approved requesting proposals from four pre-qualified construction managers.

Proposals from the contractors with a recommended guaranteed maximum price for the project are due June 19th. Then a selection committee will meet June 20th to score the proposals and make a recommendation to the WNCC Board the following day.

College President Dr. Todd Holcomb says construction on the project will begin with groundbreaking in October. The emphasis of the project will be a new entrance area, learning commons, and a new Performing Arts complex .

Holcomb says the Construction Manager will be working with the architect even before the ground-breaking to develop plans that will have the least impact on students and faculty while classes are conducted during the two and a half years of construction.
