Area runners compete in state cross country meet

KEARNEY – The 2017 girls and boys state cross country meet once again is being held at the Kearney Country Club. Find full team and individual results below.

Class D girl results.

Malcolm as a team placed second and McCool Junction finished in fourth place. Individually, Fillmore-Central’s Grace Jacobson placed seventh, Madison Gerken placed ninth and Amanda Aerts of East Butler finished in 10th.

Class D boys results.

Individually in Boys Class B, Aquinas Catholic’s Elijah Frasher brought home the gold medal. Devyn Beekman and Ty Shaw of Malcolm finished 5th and 6th. Five Malcolm runners finished in the top 20 leading them to a team state title. Thayer Central took runner up.

Class C girls results.

Milford’s Ashley Kroese finished in 10th place.

Class B girl results.

In girls Class B, three Aurora girls placed. Maya Nachtigal came in 8th, Kyla Carlson in 10th, and Emily Donnell finished 11th. York’s Julia Lee finished 24th. As a team, Aurora was crowned champion with four girls in the top 30.

Class B boys results.

In the final race of the day, Boys Class B saw York’s Luke Stuckey win an individual state championship. Aurora’s Grant Moody finished 10th and Seward’s Tyler Welch came in 23rd. The York boys finished 5th as a team.
