(AUDIO) BRLD Girls, Logan View/Scribner-Snyder Boys win East Husker Conference Tournament Crowns

Columbus-The BRLD Girls and Logan View/Scribner-Snyder Boys Basketball teams claimed East Husker Conference Tournament Championships on Saturday at Central Community College in Columbus.

BRLD won 36-35 over North Bend Central while the Raiders knocked off the BRLD Boys 38-36.

In the girls contest, the Tigers led 9-8 after one before the Wolverines outscored North Bend Central 7-1 in the 2nd quarter to build a 15-10 halftime lead.

The Tigers outscored BRLD 13-7 in the 3rd quarter to reclaim the lead at 23-22 heading into the 4th.

The Wolverines won the final frame 14-12.

Vicki Gatzemeyer, who surpassed the 1,000 point total for her career, had 15 points to lead BRLD while Caragan Tietz posted 7.

North Bend Central was led by Brooke Fredrickson, who had 12 points. Lauren Emanuel notched 7.

The Tigers fell to 15-4 on the year while the Wolverines improved to 17-4.

North Bend Central hosts Tekamah-Herman Tuesday night while BRLD is also in action on Tuesday, taking on Wisner-Pilger in Bancroft.

In the boys game, the Raiders led 7-5 after one before the Wolverines won the 2nd quarter 7-4 to take a 12-11 lead into the locker room.

LVSS went on a 9-0 run to start the 3rd quarter, and tripled up BRLD 18-6 in the period to lead 29-18 at the end of three.

The Wolverines doubled up the Raiders 18-9 in the 4th quarter.

Jacob Polk had a game-high 14 points for LVSS while Nathan Taylor notched 10.

BRLD was led by Kenyan Lovejoy, who scored a team-high 12 points. Lucas Vogt chipped in 11 while Trent Gatewood added 7.

Both teams are now 18-2 on the season.

The win was LVSS’s 12th in a row as they haven’t lost in 2018 while the loss for the Wolverines snapped their 13-game winning streak.

BRLD hosts Wisner-Pilger Tuesday night while the Raiders host Clarkson/Leigh, also on Tuesday night.

The BRLD/Wisner-Pilger games can be heard on 107.9 the Bull with the Girls Game starting at 6:00 p.m.
