UTICA – In a game of momentum swings and lead changes, Centennial remained undefeated, but only after icing the game away in the last minute with a fumble by Aquinas Catholic, giving the Broncos a 28-21 win. Centennial raced out to a 14-0 lead behind a record setting night by both quarterback Wyatt Ehlers and his main receiver, Jackson Hirschfeld. But Aquinas Catholic stormed back to take a 21-14 lead in to the 4th quarter on a punishing ground game, fueled by quarterback Nolan Hartman and sophomore Kyle Napier. With a little over 3 minutes left in the game, Centennial scored the potential game tying touchdown, but a botched PAT attempt left them trailing 21-20. But after the Bronco defense held, they were able to get the ball back and march down the field to take the lead 28-21 with just over a minute left on the clock. Any chance the Monarchs had for one last comeback was over when the ensuing kickoff was muffed and Centennial recovered. Centennial remains undefeated at 5-0, while the loss drops Aquinas Catholic to 2-3 on the season.
