Coverage of high school football continues this Friday on 107.9 The Bull as the 1-0 Guardian Angels Central Catholic Bluejays host the 0-1 Clarkson/Leigh Patriots in Beemer.

The Bluejays are coming off a season opening 32-12 win over Nebraska Christian, while the Patriots fell at home to Pender 40-26.

Clarkson/Leigh head coach Jim Clarkson says limiting GACC’s offensive time of possession will be a key to the game.

“A big thing for us is we’re gonna have to get off the field. We’re gonna have to find a way to slow down their offense. They seem to, in their first game anyways, seem to be a little bit less multiple than they have been in years past. I suppose they’re breaking in a new quarterback and stuff, but again they have those big guys that seem to pound right at you,” Clarkson said. “So we gotta somehow find a way to get off the field. If we can do that and hopefully string together a couple long drives against them, that would give us a chance to be competitive inthe game. And then who knows what happens.”

GACC head coach Dave Ridder comments on scouting the Patriots.

“They have some pretty good athletes and they like to use their running game to set up the pass,” Ridder said. “Defensively they like to do some things to try to confuse you up front. So we have some things to work on.”

Kickoff Friday night is scheduled for 7:00, with the St. Francis Memorial Hospital Pregame Show at 6:40. Listen live on 107.9 The Bull, online at kticradio.com and on the free KTIC Radio app.
