Listen to the podcasted version of the  game here.

SEWARD – It was the Tayte Rolenc’s show Friday night at Plum Creek Park, leading Seward past York Cornerstone, 5-1.

Rolenc dominated on the mound, pitching a complete game, allowing only one run. He also dominated with a bat in his hand, getting three hits and driving in three runs.

Seward drew first blood, scoring three runs in the second inning behind four hits. Caden Gardiner kicked off the inning, crushing a double to left field that was a few feet from leaving the park. Marcus Trevino then drove him in with a triple to right field. Three batters later, Rolenc helped out his own cause with a single to left to drive in another run. Brett Meyer capped off the inning with an RBI single in the infield.

Seward tacked on two more runs in the third inning after Rolenc drove a ball to left-center for a two RBI double.

York struggled with the bat, mustering only one hit until the fifth inning when Tyler Cast led off the frame with a double. Two batters later, Noah Boyd hit a loop single to right field to bring in Cast. It would turn out to be the only run in the game.

The seventh inning got off to a great start for York as the first three batters reached base. With no outs, bases loaded and down four, York looked prime to make some noise, but Rolenc settled down on the mound. He struck out the next two batters and forced a line-out to win the game.

Rolenc pitched seven innings, allowing seven hits, one earned run, one walk and six punch outs, improving his record to 3-3 on the mound. He also went 3-4 with a three RBI’s, two stolen bases, a double and scored one run. Trevino helped Seward with two base hits, one RBI, a triple and scored two runs.

York starter, Nick Weskamp picked up the loss after he pitched three innings, allowed seven hits, five earned runs, five walks and five strike outs. David Jinright pitched three innings of scoreless ball. Tyler Cast led York with two hits and scored the only run.

Seward has won three straight and improved their record to, 5-9. York dropped to 4-14.
