(AUDIO) West Point-Beemer’s Ortiz to run Track and Cross Country at Midland

West Point-Beemer Girls Track & Field and Cross Country Standout Jainelly Ortiz is headed to Midland next season. Ortiz is a distance runner and says she plans on doing the same events in track at Midland as she does for the Cadets. “I think I’ll be doing the distance…the two miles and the mile probably. And here at West Point I run the two miles and the mile too.”

Ortiz, who will do both sports for the Warriors, says this past fall was her first and only year of Cross Country at West Point-Beemer. She ran a personal best time of 25 minutes.

Ortiz chose Midland over Wayne State. “Well first I was looking at Wayne State College, but what made me choose between Midland and Wayne was that Midland was always like there for me and looking for me.”

Ortiz says she plans to major in Exercise Science with the goal of becoming a Physical Therapist.

She is the daughter of Rafael Ortiz and Wanda Garcia.
