Briar Cliff drops Senior Night contest to Jamestown

In the final regular season contest at the Newman Flanagan Center for six Briar Cliff seniors the Chargers were unable to find their groove as (RV) Jamestown won the match 3-0 (25-21, 25-23, 25-14).

Senior Courtney Schafer led the Cliff in kills with 10 and the top two in the dig category for the Blue and Gold were seniors as Brooklyn Tolliver recorded 12 and Danielle Coronado finished the night with five. The other players that played their final game in front of the home crowd at the NFC were Olivia Tomlin, Kelsey Kanaby and Tori Davenport.

Analyse Stapleton was the most efficient attacker for the Chargers with a hitting percentage of .368 on her nine kills. Delaney Meyer recorded 14 of the team’s 31 assists, with 12 more coming from Maureen Imrie.

Jamestown had a big advantage in hitting categories, finishing with an attack percentage of .347 compared to BC’s .189. The Jimmies had 44 team kills and 11 hitting errors while the Cliff had 36 kills and 18 errors. Kennedy Conzemius had a game-high 11 kills with an attack percentage of .526 for Jamestown.

The Jimmies totaled nine blocks as a team, while Briar Cliff had seven. Britta Knudson was the top blocker with five, all on block assists. Tyra Blue led all Chargers with four total blocks (two solo, two assists).

The Chargers did have the edge in service aces by a 4-1 mark. Imrie led all players with two aces.

The loss moves Briar Cliff to 11-14 overall and 5-10 in the GPAC. The Chargers have a non-conference meeting with Dakota State for their next contest on Tuesday in Madison, SD, before finishing the regular season with a conference game against Dakota Wesleyan on Wednesday night in Mitchell, SD. Jamestown improved to 20-6 with a 9-5 league record.
